Hadn't been back in this area since 2010 so we are back for a week. Couldnt wait to see if it was still the same yummy pizza and it is. Plan to come back for pasta.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I was so excited when I moved back and was able to order Genoveses again! The pizza's delicious, crust is perfect. Their pasta dishes are great - all the veggies are fresh. Yes the ambiance is a little strange...but it's a strip mall and they've been there over 20 years. I lived in NYC for a while, and this pizza definitely comes close to the best pies I had in NY.

I have loved everything I have tried here and the prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. For 2 adults and a child, the adults each having a beer or a wine, our bill came to about $30.00 and I had enough food for several leftover meals. The sauce was great. My only problem was the salad: iceberg, tomatoes and onion slices with a very plain oil and vinegar.

Called for takeout on my way in from Texas and I didn't realize they were closing since my clock was still showing Texas time, but he was incredibly friendly as he took my order and the whole staff was very courteous when I showed up, apologetically, as they were sweeping the floor. The place is small, but cozy and the decor is typical Italian, but not at all cheesy. I would like to have dined-in. The pizza was great with tons of cheese and plenty of toppings. Fair warning: the thick crust is THICK! I wasn't blown away by the flavor of the sauce. There was just too much of it and it was too tomato-ey. My kids and I have never let leftover pizza go to waste, but we actually threw away two slices at the end of our vacation week, probably because the thick crust is just too much. The prices are fair for the portions and quality. I would return to experience their amazing service fully by dining, but next time I'll order much less food! I wish I could give them three-and-a-half stars because 3 seems like an insult, but I wasn't quite impressed enough to give 4.

Best pizza on Ormond Beach! You can get an 18' pizza, wings and fries for under $30 bucks which is a deal especially on the beach. Being from New York I like my crust thin & crispy and apparently so do they. They have a tons of options for toppings and lots of Italian dinner options. Although they usually quote me 45 mins to an hour for delivery they always show up earlier than expected!

Best Italian pizza in the area! We come down every year from Ct and look forward to getting the clams casino pizza... Almost as good as Pepe's on Wooster street! You won't be disappointed! Haven't tried anything other than the pizza but the restaurant is always well attended and the food looks and smells great!Take it from a couple of New Haven Italians! Enjoy!

We were staying on the beach and decided to order in. We called Lenny's NY Pizza. After being put on hold twice and waiting for over 30 minutes, my husband suggested Geovese's Italian Cafe. They answered right away and we ordered a Cafe Combo pizza and a Antipasto salad. We were told it would take 45 minutes to an hour. The food arrived within 30 minutes nice and hot. When I went to pay, I asked the driver if he would get the tip. He responded " Yes mam, not only do they make good food but they take care of their employees. Now, about the food. It was one of the best pizza's we have had in some time. Normally if it was really good, I wouldn't write about it. You know, one of those secrets you don't want gettting out. But seeing how we're on a mini vaca, I see no harm in letting the secrete out. You've gotta give this place a try. As for the salad. Oh my goodness.. it was move than big enough for two. So, in conclusion this place is a definite must do if you are in or around Ormond Beach.

Mine and my husband's new Italian spot in town. The food is amazing, the service is amazing, and the prices are really good for what you get. We had the Club pizza with extra crispy crust - let's just say the order was perfect. The crust crisp, the toppings yummy. We were satisfied. Also their draft beers have amazing deals. We got a pitcher for $8 - nice and ice cold and a LARGE pitcher, not one of those small ones, with a cooler built into the pitcher. Great food, great atmosphere - definitely our new go to for Italian cuisine

Slowest pizza place I've ever seen. After 20 mins of my order, when I asked where my order was, she simply said oh it's Friday night honey, it takes a long time. Really? You could not have said anything better. It's okay. It's my first and last time here.

Genovese's is my favorite pizza in Ormond Beach. It's been quite awhile since I've been, and sometimes a closer spot and convenience wins out, but if I had my choice, it would be here. The veggie pizza is awesome, and always came with fresh garlic, that just made the entire pie. Nice sized Greek salad, filled with all the usual add-ons as well. Delivery used to take 45+, but it may be different now. Guess I'll have to order and find out!

Hands down the best pizza i've had in a while. Best place for vegetarian Italian meal. Lunch specials are big portions. Service was awesome. Such a pleasant surprise . Give it a try!

It's not often I throw around a five star review.. but...the 3 times I have had food from here have been excellent.. The first 2 times were carry out orders and the place was extremely busy. Always a good sign. They got me in and out as well as the other patrons that were there for picking up orders. The portions were huge, topping on the pizza plentiful,, as others have suggested, a little soggy in the middle but over all a great pie. This week i had the chance to stop in for lunch.. the place was pretty empty at 11:30. Only one waitress working and the place filled up pretty quick.. again.. another good sign. One waitress wasn't a problem.. She was running the show and the service was excellent. My party of three ordered the antipasto appetizer and it was huge.. I'm pretty sure I ate on it for 2 days.. very fresh and the Italian dressing was good as well. We ordered Manicotti, Ham and cheese sub, and a Stromboli so we could all share a little of each to sample. The food was fresh, the service was some of the best i've have in the area and I will return anytime I'm in the area whether its to dine in or take out. A+ for this little gem in Ormond Beach.

Casual atmosphere. Service is usually attentive and polite, but if they get really busy the servers can become a bit stretched. Come here often since we drive over for the day from Orlando often. My wife and daughters love it. We usually get calzones and Stromboli....all excellent. On our recent visit last week my 12 year old tried the lasagna. She loved it and had plenty left for dessert the next day. We really enjoy Genovese's.

  • Leslie S.

We ordered the cafe combo pizza in a large. The middle was a bit soggy but there was a lot of toppings on the pie. The beverage glasses are huge. Next time, off ask them to cook the middle more.

Ordered delivery and wish I hadn't! The spaghetti was watery and the sauce taste funny. Meat sauce was just chopped meatballs and it has a grainy texture Ew!! Garlic bread was tough and burned!

Pizza combination was gooid. The crust was a little soggy in the middle. The toppings were extensive. Really good for a local pie.

The food was excellent. I ordered baked spaghetti, the portion size was enough for 2. My wife ordered lasagna, it was also a healthy portion. Great service, and great tasting food. We will be back when we're in the area again

I am truly glad that I was able to find Genovese right around the corner from my house. The flavors are great and I find the pizza to be one of the most flavorful in terms of NY style. I was glad to find that they also offer tons of specials and offers online via their website, especially for guests that have yet to try them. The first time I had them I went back several times and each visit was good. The staff was polite and it seemed to be busy. Don't feel shy to check them out just because they're in a plaza that just seems like they shouldn't be there. at first I thought it was an old mom and pop pizzeria that was hanging on. One of the first restaurants that had me thinking to try before judging. They also deliver which is great especially when there's specials covered for delivered orders also.

We don't usually get Italian food, but were up for a change while here on vacation. Most Yelp reviews were good for this place so we figured it would at least be as decent as Olive Garden and maybe even better. WRONG! We entered to a nearly full room, taking that as a good sign. Then it all went downhill. We stood there expecting someone to come seat us... continued waiting as two different waitstaff glanced at us but said nothing... and waited some more until some customers came in behind us and informed us that we could seat ourselves. We chose a booth, but quickly realized that frigid air was blowing right down on us. After a trip to the bathroom to wash my hands, I could tell that the small dining section in the back was much warmer and asked to move there. My husband and I decided to order two entrees to share: lasagne and a penne dish with sundried tomatoes and artichoke hearts, both of which come with bread and soup or salad. The soup was edible but no more special than soup from a can. The bread was overly toasted but okay with butter. Then we began to notice the bugs -- fat fruit flies, I think. We spent the entire meal batting them away from our food. Finally, our entrees arrived in enormous portions, particularly the penne dish. Sadly, that dish was devoid of any appealing flavor. As for the lasagne, the excessive sauce was extremely sweet, which is my least favorite type of sauce, and the bits of meat were so small they lent absolutely no flavor and barely any texture. The only item we both thought was "good" was the second basket of bread, which was not as toasted as the first. After we had each eaten a token amount of the entrees and finished off the bread, we asked for to-go boxes thinking maybe we'd pass a hungry homeless person who might like to finish it. We didn't, so we ended up throwing the food away at our hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I don't think I can say it better than my five year old ("they make this pizza just the way I like it"). Even my dad thanked me for picking out such a great place. The server was terrific, quick and attentive. He was helpful with our young kids and even applied a coupon for a free small cheese pizza for them (a good thing since I don't think I've ever seen our kids eat so much food). The place itself was very clean and casual yet nice. A pretty Italian ambiance for a good price. We look forward to coming back next time we're in town.

  • Chew And Revie W.

They don't open until 2 on a Sunday and you can't get a slice, you have to order a whole pie, so for inconvenience, it gets a low score. Plus, the ambiance is strange and when you walk in you feel like you're walking right into someone's dining room while they're having dinner. The counter is far away and sideways, and you feel like you're walking to the back looking for a bathroom trying to find it. Can't say how the food is though because unlike most pizza places, you can't get a slice unless it's a weekday during lunch hours (according to the staff). I guess I'm a NY pizza snob!

The best pizza in Daytona/Ormond hands down! I look forward to getting delivery once a week! Especially since im a cook at a restaurant in NSB, and need something different than my menu items! Bravo my friends! I'm NJ born and raised and the one difficult thing to do in FL is find good pizza/italian food! Also try the sicilian stromboli! Amazing!

Order something, anything, with marinara and you won't be disappointed. Located directly across from the beach entrance at Ormond, this small Italian spot is popular and family friendly. Despite the restaurant being a bit chaotic, the knowledgeable and friendly server helped us navigate the extensive menu and checked in on us frequently. The menu is equal parts pasta, pizza and sandwiches. Daily specials are listed on the chalkboard by the entrance. We were in on a Tuesday night and took advantage of that day's special: 2 free toppings on any size pizza. Genovese's marinara is wonderfully thick with a rich tomato flavor and generous amounts of onion and garlic. No watery sauce here. This one can be served with a fork. We chose a vegetarian pizza of mushrooms, peppers and onions. The veggies were fresh and plentiful, and of course there was the sauce... We also had the shrimp scampi which had plenty of fresh shrimp and tons of fresh chopped garlic served over a mound of al dente spaghetti. They do seem to love their garlic at Genovese's, and that's just fine with us. However, the dish's downfall was the overabundance of low quality olive oil that drowned out everything but the garlic. Next time we'll take our own advice and stick with anything marinara.

The dinner salad here was useless. I wish I hadn't ordered it. The Lobster Ravioli was kinda good but the alfredo sauce was just plain it needed something more like tomatoes in it or something to tang it up a little, it was very rich. The rolls were good. I'd go back and try some other things, seems like a good place.

We always look for great pizza when on vacation and this place hit the spot. New York style and as good as they come. The crust was delicious and cook perfectly. The sauce was fantastic and the toppings seemed very fresh. The Pizza gets a definite 5 stars! We also tried the Egg Plant Parmigiana w/ Cheese Ravioli and finished it off with a Cannoli. Another 5 stars across the board. The Cannoli was Outstanding and probably the best I have had.... Great food and great service making for an excellent overall experience. Give this place a shot! You'll love it.... Come hungry, cause the portions are very generous and very reasonable.

I've eaten Italian all over the world and this place was one of the worst. I ordered Chicken Parm, something pretty easy and not really traditional Italian but something that I need every now an then. The chicken was horrible, tough, over cooked and poorly trimmed. The sauce was out of a can and was terrible and the pasta was so overcooked that it was simply a lump in the middle of the plate. My wife had linguine with white clam sauce and that wasn;t much better. Avoid this place at all costs, you can get better Italian in the freezer department of Publix.

Serviceable Italian restaurant in a strip mall about a block from the Atlantic Ocean. Points for nice greens in the salad instead of the usual iceberg found in similar places. Friend had the minestrone and said it was very good. Friend knows what she's talking about having been born and raised in Italy. Lasagna was delicious too.

My favorite pizza. I never liked pizza until I ate here. My husband use to deliver pizza here and said all the ingreients are fresh. We usually get delivery when we order and if you are not into pizza try the fetuccine alfredo or the lobster ravioli served with alfredo sauce.

Located on the beach side of the intercoastal in a strip shopping center, this place was clearly kid friendly (depending on your perspective this could be good or bad) and crowded. Hard to find amongst all the stores, but the green awning in the photo is a good clue. Take out business was brisk. We used their free small pizza with a large and the bill came out higher than expected by a couple bucks. Did the math a couple times but never figured it out. Cashier insisted it was because we ordered off an "old" menu, but it was off the internet menu and the menu that came with the food had the same prices. Also ordered spinach on our white clam pizza and got home to find no spinach. :-( Overall the food was OK, but there are so many pizza/Italian places down here it wasn't necessarily a standout. The white clam pie was decent, best part was the real (not powdered) garlic. Flavor was OK but not heavy on clams. Stromboli was doughy, greasy and the marinara (on the side) was too sweet. Can't speak for dine-in but overall takeout experience was OK. I'm sure they would've fixed the spinach error had we gone back so though we've had better (and worse) we'd probably try again.

Glad we stumbled upon this yummy carb factory! Despite it being in a strip mall (that may turn some off) once you are inside, you feel like you are in a cozy Italian restaurant....which you are. I was surprised they have been located there so long and we never knew it. Food was very tasty and the selection was pretty good. Great big portions, too. Even noticed other tables' portions were large. I'm sure they were proud I was looking ;) The service was friendly but not overly attentive. Bathroom was clean; a bonus! Would definitely recommend as I know we'll return, but expect to pay $10-22 per person, unless you go for lunch.

Wow....delicious pizza! We were visiting the beach and looking for some pizza for dinner. Not wanting to just trust any recommendation and blindly have pizza delivered, we went out to find Genovese's Italian Cafe to get a peek at what we would be ordering. This small cafe was jammed packed on a Sunday evening with lots of customers, which we took to be a good sign since the rest of the strip mall was pretty much quiet. We could see terrific looking salads, mountainous plates of lasagna, and nice looking pizza...so we placed an order to go. Half pepperoni and half (what I would call supreme). We took the pizza back to our hotel and everyone dug in. The 25 minute wait in the shop was work it. The pizza is a hand tossed variety and not too thin or thick. The veggies were chopped up a bit too much for my own taste, but not small enough to lose the flavor of the green peppers and onions. I wish we had a pizza place like this close to where we live in Ohio, we would be regular customers. Just the atmosphere of the place...lots of people drinking wine, bustling wait staff, lots of conversations, the restaurant was just lively and inviting. Don't miss out on a visit to Genovese's while you are on vacation here.

What a pleasant little find. The Peach Valley Cafe next door in the strip mall was packed, with a half hour wait for lunch. So we decided to check out Genovese. Our lunches were simple, but affordable and tasty. My wife had the Italian sub on homemade bread, and loved it. The fresh bread had a great crust but soft inside. I just had the penne with marinara and meatball. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was done right. The pasta was al dente, the sauce didn't smother everything and the meatball was tasty. I should have ordered more than one meatball, but I didn't realize I was only getting one. The next day we had their pizza. And we were even more impressed. The crust was perfect, especially when cooked in the brick oven pizza. For very good pizza and Italian sandwiches in Ormond Beach, this is probably one of the best options.

We pick up a Spinach & Garlic Pie and a Baked Eggplant Parm appetizer 2-3 times a month. Very happy with the peeled eggplant and the sauce is excellent. Always consistent. We'll keep going back.

We ordered the cafe combo pizza in a large. The middle was a bit soggy but there was a lot of toppings on the pie. The beverage glasses are huge. Next time, off ask them to cook the middle more.

Enjoy!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
